Hogan Ranch

Located just East of Lockhart, Shady Ranch consists of 450 acres of rolling farmland, woodlots and sendero openings. The client’s vision is to create a wilderness retreat with native plants and wildlife of the Central Texas landscape.

Initial tasks included creating a working base file of the site from an aerial photo, initial planning schemes for future ranch land improvements and developing a maintenance and seeding schedule to track the yearly success of the various grass land prairies. Future tasks will entail siting a horse barn with trails system, creating a simple design scheme featuring a deer resistant plant palette for landscape areas around the homesteads, managing the brush line for cedar harvesting and establishing a game management program for the wildlife on site.
